I didn’t set out to write a book about weight, food, or freedom.
I set out to survive.
For as long as I can remember, food was never just food. It was control, shame, comfort, rebellion, and punishment all rolled into one. I grew up in a home where love was conditional, rules were harsh, and “being good” never seemed enough. My mother’s words cut deeper than her hands ever could, and my father stood by silently. My sister disappeared into anorexia, and I… I went the other way. I found refuge in food, hiding chocolate bars in bags, eating in secret, learning to soothe my pain with sugar and silence.
By my teens, I was grossly overweight. By my twenties, I was obese. By my thirties and forties, I was trapped in an endless cycle of dieting, losing, regaining, and hating myself for it. I tried everything—fads, pills, starvation, even surgery. And every time I thought I’d finally “fixed it,” the weight returned, dragging my self-worth down with it.
But here’s what changed everything:
I stopped seeing weight as something I had to “lose.” Losing means we’re meant to find it again—like car keys or a wallet. And I didn’t want to find that weight ever again. I wanted freedom. I wanted energy. I wanted to feel at home in my own body.
That’s when I discovered something more powerful than any diet or operation: the mind-body connection.Neuroscience, psychology, and manifestation all show us the same truth—our thoughts shape our actions, and our actions shape our reality. When I changed the way I spoke to myself, when I started to believe I was worthy of health, when I practiced gratitude instead of guilt—my body followed. Slowly, steadily, beautifully.
This book isn’t a diet plan. It’s a guide to freedom. It’s my story, woven with science, tools, mantras, and daily practices to help you build a relationship with food—and yourself—that feels light, joyful, and sustainable.
